BENFLEET KICKSTART CLUB - A BRIEF HISTORY
THE CLUB WAS STARTED OVER 40 YEARS AGO BY 2 POLICEMEN AS A NON-PROFIT VOLUNTARY RUN MOTOCROSS CLUB. IT WAS THEN AND IS STILL THE ONLY NON-PROFIT MOTORCROSS TRACK IN THE UK.
THE SITE WAS A LOT BIGGER BACK THEN AS IT ALSO INCLUDED A BMX TRACK WHICH WAS SITED IN THE OLD ANIMAL SANCTUARY AREA. THE BMX SIDE WAS NOT BEING USED AND FELL INTO DISREPAIR, IT WAS THEN USED AS THE CAR PARK BEFORE THE COUNCIL RECLAIMED IT FOR A ANIMAL SANCTUARY.
OVER THE YEARS THE WEEKLY RUNNING OF THE CLUB WAS CARRIED OUT BY MANY MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY INCLUDING: BOB, DAVE, RUSS, STEVE, NICK, CARL, PETE, ANNA, CHRISTINE... AND MANY OTHER VOLUNTEERS, WHO CARRY OUT OTHER SIGNIFICANT ROLES REQUIRED BY THE CLUB IN A GROUP EFFORT.
